About me

eungella-1

Hi, I’m Cheryl. My husband and I live in Mackay, Queensland with our two daughters, one son-in-law, one potential son-in-law, two cats, and a dozen goldfish. I also foster animals for a local animal rescue group, so there are usually a few extra cats around the place as well.

I was born in NZ, and spent the first 18 years of my life there, so it’s my “home”. I get to go back over at least once each year to visit my family. Mackay is a great town though, and I love the lifestyle here. The heat and humidity can be a bit much sometimes, but it doesn’t stop me from doing what I like, which is getting outside. I’m out and about early most mornings, and we all get away camping as much as possible during the cooler months.

I work a four-day week as a Senior Finance Officer for the Department of Education and Training. The work involves providing school Principals and admin staff with training and advice on budgets and other financial management issues. Its a great job as I get to visit the schools and help the staff learn and grow within their roles.

Uni is a return to study after many years of doing none and am enjoying it alot. It’s helping me in my work, as well as keeping my brain ticking over, which can only be a good thing.
